Amazon Prime Video fans should prepare to be disappointed, as a pacy thriller will reportedly not be returning.
It has been claimed there is ‘no chance’ the streamer will order season two of dark drama Wildness, which stars Jenna Coleman and Oliver Jackson-Cohen.
They play married British couple Liv and Will, who seem to have it all, from a rock-solid marriage to a glamorous new life in New York thousands of miles from their provincial hometown.
However, their perfect life is shattered when Liv learns about Will’s affair and decides to enact her revenge during a dream holiday that soon turns into a nightmare around America’s National Parks.
A source told The Sun that despite viewers ‘gagging for more’ Wilderness after an inconclusive end to season one, the show will not be returning for season two.
This is because the book the TV show is adapted from – Wilderness by BE Jones – ended in the same way as the limited series and there is no further source material.

Amazon Prime series that should not have been cancelled
• The Wilds
• Paper Girls
• As We See It
• I Know What You Did Last Summer
• Hand of God
• The Romanoffs
• Carnival Row
• Shelter
They explained: ‘There’s no chance of Wilderness making its revival, and plans for a second season haven’t even been considered by bosses, even if there was plenty of opportunity to pick back up where things left off and bring Jenna back for more.
‘The decision was made because the action in the series concluded with the events that are featured in the book the show is based on – a novel by B E Jones – which ended in the same way as the limited series.
‘Fans will no doubt be furious with the decision to leave them hanging.’
Metro has contacted Amazon Prime for comment.
On Google, many viewers said they binge-watched Wilderness – which they described as ‘superb’, ‘impeccable’ and ‘gripping’ – in one weekend when it was released in 2023.

Among them was Jag, who said: ‘I absolutely loved it. Being a woman and having gone through something similar at the hands of a man. It’s so refreshing to see that someone put this experience to great use and made a truly enjoyable gripping limited series. Absolutely enjoyable. The acting was impeccable. Storyline amazing.’
Echoing their sentiment, Snowy River raved: ‘Watched this over one weekend and thoroughly enjoyed it. The acting was superb and plot had more twists than a tangled ball of yarn. It was unusual in that none of the protagonists were innocent. They were all morally flawed, some of them to the point of being repugnant. But it was that which made it so fascinating. These days drama always has to have a tragic hero. There are no heroes in this story and it is all the better for that.’
Qwerty Qwerty added: ‘I watched it today..i haven’t felt as satisfied watching any show ever … the interactions, so on point, I was screaming at the computer when my parents walked in 😂some brilliant characters, so bloody relatable…the dialogues, will remind you of someone from your reality, the consistency with the character’s actions is on point!!!!’
But if fans are looking to fill the void of Wildenerness season two, Amazon Prime Video recently released another psychological thriller featuring a British acting legend.

This week, viewers have been devouring all three episodes of Fear, which stars Martin Compston as a dad whose hopes for a fresh start in Glasgow with his young family are dashed by a troubled neighbour.
Among those calling the intense drama ‘exceptional’ is IMDB user mrc-72305, who said: ‘Fear is an exceptional series with some excellent acting on all parts. The sense of fear and anxiety you get from the moment you start watching it continues all through till the end of the third episode.’
Echoing their sentiment, Tracie shared on X: ‘Geesh that was a terrifying emotional rollercoaster & great twist too. Loved every minute – not a dull moment.’
User Team_Compston added: ‘Wow! Fear is top class! It’s scary, emotional, absolutely gripping & bloody brilliant! Wow! That was quite a ride – Superb. Five stars.’
Wilderness is available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.
