BBC Radio 2 listeners have been left seething after Scott Mills teased a Eurovision 2025 announcement that turned out to be just another announcement.
Fans have been waiting for weeks to hear who will officially be representing the UK at this year’s Song Contest.
Ahead of his BBC Radio 2 programme on Thursday, Scott, 51, teased he’d be dropping a big announcement at 9.20am.
‘#Eurovision fans… you’ll want to be listening to @bbcradio2 at 9.20am this morning,’ he wrote on X.
But fans were left pretty disappointed when his announcement turned out to be another announcement.
He told listeners: ‘Before the end of the show, I just want to bring you some big news, who fancies meeting our act for Eurovision this year?’

As fans waited for the big reveal, he went on: ‘They’re going to be on this show tomorrow morning before anywhere else and then you’ll see them and hear them everywhere but here is where you’ll get it first.
‘And we’ll play the song that they are taking to Basel in May. So on the show tomorrow, it is officially out there, the UK’s Eurovision entry for 2025 with myself.
‘There’s been so much rumour, so much gossip, so much “When are we getting the song, when are we finding out more, who are they, who is it?”
‘It is not the Eurovision act and it is not the Eurovision song until I tell you it is tomorrow morning. That will be at 8am, and I want us to bring some real Sam Ryder energy tomorrow.

‘Do you remember how we all got behind Sam so much and what a difference it made because this is a really big and scary thing for someone to do.’
He continued: ‘Even the really established artists who have done it in the past say it is the ride of their lives, unlike anything else they’ve ever done before.
‘To put themselves out there and sing live, and you get one chance in front of almost 200million viewers and represent your country at basically the World Cup of singing.’
‘I know from previous years, when we show the love to our act, it makes such a difference, he added, urging his listeners to ‘unite with music and do our thing’.

‘For me this is like Christmas Eve, I am so, so excited to tell you all abut this.’
‘We have got a lot to be excited about,’ Scott concluded.
Fans were fuming over him not actually revealing the performers who would be representing the UK, taking to X to share their frustration.
‘Scott Mills announcing an announcement and wasting my time,’ Kian seethed.

Daniel said: ‘Aw hey man are you JOKING? An announcement for an announcement? We already know who it is, man!’
Julio wrote: ‘What I expected to be an announcement ended up being… An announcement that they’ll announce it tomorrow morning. Regardless, I’m excited. Hope it’s a good one!!’
Crystal fumed: ‘Announcement of an announcement typical BBC ugh.’
‘Wait?!? It’s not until TOMORROW now? For god sake. I turned on R2 for THAT?!?’ Michael also wrote.
Scott had previously teased that he knew who would be taking to the stage in Sweden, hinting back in January: ‘By the way, I’m probably not supposed to say this… I heard our Eurovision song yesterday.
‘Can’t say who it’s by, I can’t say… they locked me in a room.’
‘It’s good,’ he simply added.
It had previously been reported that Remember Monday will be flying our flag, with a BBC presenter letting it slip before the official announcement.
The band is made up of Lauren Byrne, Holly-Anne Hull, and Charlotte Steele, who took part in The Voice in 2019 and have performed at British Summer Time Festival in Hyde Park.

They already boast a following of 524,000 loyal fans on TikTok and 76,000 on Instagram.
A source also previously told The Sun: ‘As ever, behind the scenes, competition has been fierce to represent the UK.
‘This year bosses have opted to shake things up and send a female trio, Remember Monday.
‘The song is a stark change from Olly Alexander last year, but the girls are sure to get the nation behind them.’

Last year, Olly Alexander flew the UK’s flag, performing with his song Dizzy, but finishing in 18th position with a respectable 46 points from the jury vote but 0 in the public vote.
He followed Mae Muller, whose tune I Wrote A Song finished in 25th place out of 26 contestants with a weary 24 points, while Sam Ryder’s Space Man flew to second place in 2023.
Eurovision 2025 will take place in Basel, Switzerland, after Nemo’s win with The Code in Malmo, Sweden, last May.
The grand final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 will take place in St Jakobshalle in Basel on May 17, with the semi-finals taking place on May 13 and 15.
